Queen! (and me)

Jonathan and I went to the Queen Sing-along last night at the Alamo Drafthouse, hosted by The Action Pack. It was awesome! Watching Freddie Mercury singing Radio GaGa at Live Aid really demonstrated how great a live performer he was.

Also, his voice was amazing. And his range, ridiculous! I think my throat was more sore than after the Michael Jackson singalong, which is saying something. (wow, that was 6 years ago?? I feel old….)

More Queen videos:
Under Pressure live at Wembley
Queen did the theme song for Flash Gordon! That is something I did not know.

In unrelated news, I’m in an internet video! Presumably more to come…

  1. You need some women in the enginnering video, fyi. Not all engineers are geeky looking guys. Really. I promise.

  2. Oh man, I’ve always loved “Flash”. Well, most of Queen’s songs, honestly. But whenever I hear somebody say the word “flash” I start singing (either to myself or aloud, depending on the company) “Flash! a-aaaaa. Savior of the Universe!” I really do think Freddie was the greatest rock frontman ever. And that’s from somebody whose favorite band by far is U2. Bono and company are great live too, but Freddie was at another level.

    1. Don’t think I can argue with you, kernelm. And is there *any* rock band that has the vocal blend that Queen does? And yeah, I have the same thought when I hear the word “Flash”. My parents used to play the vinyl record album when I was knee-high to a grasshopper.
